Forsterite brick for glass kiln
Forsterite brick is a weak alkaline refractory material. Contains 35% to 55% magnesium oxide and a considerable amount of magnesium ferrite. The molar ratio of MgO/SiO2 is 0.94~1.33. Forsterite 2MgO·SiO2 (abbreviated as M2Si) is the main crystal phase. It has certain resistance to alkaline slag, high refractoriness and softening temperature under load, and strong resistance to iron oxide corrosion. Using peridotite, serpentine, pure peridotite, talc, etc. as raw materials, adding an appropriate amount of sintered magnesia, and firing in an oxidizing atmosphere. The sintering temperature increases correspondingly with the increase of the amount of magnesia added.
